Airport Community Outreach
Community Involvement
The Shreveport Airport Authority is proud to be actively involved in outreach efforts in the entire Ark-La-Tex Region. Our staff can be found at trade shows, speaking to both small and large civic groups, and leading field trips at either airport with school children, community groups, or college students. To book a speaking engagement, trade show, or to book an airport tour email Mark Crawford at 318-673-5370.
Speaking Engagements
The Airport Authority is always honored when asked to speak before local organizations. The Airport has custom-made PowerPoint presentations available on many subjects related to the aviation industry. Airport staff is available to travel to speak to groups not only in Shreveport, but throughout the Ark-La-Tex Region.
Airport Tours
Ever wonder how an airport operates? To see how it works, the Shreveport Regional Airport offers an Airport Tour Program.Tours are available at Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) and Shreveport Downtown Airport (DTN) and are offered without charge to groups such as schools, scouting organizations, senior centers, church clubs, professional societies, etc.
What You Will See
Our tours provide a close-up look at the Shreveport Airport Authority airports and how they operate, as well as useful traveling tips. Tour participants see an airport in action. Due to security and safety concerns, the tours are confined to public areas of the airports and the terminal buildings. Since we do not own or operate any aircraft, these are not included in the tours. And in addition to airport and aviation commentary by a tour guide, presentations may be offered by different airport specialty groups, such as airline representatives, U.S. Customs, Transportation Security Administration, aircraft maintenance facilities, airport fire station, and other airport representatives.
We can customize a tour to fit the interest or special needs of different groups. Tours will last between one to two hours during normal business hours, typically on Friday mornings. Tours are available to both adults and children.
How To Make Arrangements
Advance reservations are required and can be made by submitting your request in writing, at least 21 days prior to the desired tour date, to Mark Crawford by email or to fax at 318-673-5382.If you are interested in a tour of the Downtown Airport please contact the Downtown Airport Manager at 318-673-5394.
